This is the new X-Wing model. Like the UCS sets before it it is scaled a bit larger than the regular minifig sized sets.
It is Luke Skywalker's Red Five X-Wing form the movies. The only thing that is not scaled up is the R2-D2. But compared to the minifigs the droids are a bit over sized anyway.
This is the official description:

Star Wars: The Old and the New!
Today on "Star Wars: The Old and the New!" I will show you all the different A-wing sets.
In 2000 Lego released the first A-wing, set number 7134. The Star Wars sets from that time are all very brickish looking. There are very few curves.
This set came with two minifigs, a pilot and mechanic. This set consists of 125 pieces.
Check out more on Brickset.
In 2006 the second A-wing was released, set number 6207. This set is quit similar to the old one.
It also has two minifigs, but the piece count is a bit higher. This set contains 194 pieces.
This set features a lot more detail and looks a lot more like the A-wing from the movie.
Check out more on Brickset.
The third A-wing Lego released in 2009 is part of a much bigger play set.
The Home One Mon Calimari Star Cruiser set number 7754.
This set was a limited edition exclusive for Toy's R Us. On the A-wing the red is replaced for dark green.
This set contains 6 minifigs and 789 pieces.
Check it out on Brickset.
And here we have the most recent A-wing set. The 75003 released in 2013.
This set contains three minifigs and 177 pieces.
It also features the finger fired missiles on both sides. The old pilot helmet is replaced by a new, more movie accurate, helmet without visor.
Check it out on Brickset.
Hope you enjoyed this review of the A-wing sets. I will try to get a new "Star Wars: The Old and the New!" out soon!

Jabba's Palace!
This is an awesome Lego build of Jabba the Hutt's famous palace.
This Palace in the Dune Sea was created by Flickr user "Ar Sparfel".
It takes you right back to the first movie where C-3PO and R2-D2 knock on his front door!
It is obviously based on the recently released Jabba's Palace sets 9516, Jabba's Palace, and the 75005, Racnor Pit.
Jabba is surrounded by all his bounty hunters, dancers and various other beings from all over the galaxy.
The only thing missing is the Racnor. The creator was probably not able to get his hands one that set just yet.
Check it out on Flickr.

New sets 2013
Several new sets have shown up on the internet in the past weeks. Here is an overview of what is to come in 2013!
The new Chima theme, to replace Ninjago. It seems that the theme and its sets resemble animals. It looks just as playable as the Ninjage theme. Also the minifigs look like animals. This should make the animal loving Afols very happy.
The Super Heroes theme continues in 2013 and these are some of the new sets. Several new heroes and villains make their appearance, like Aquaman. Also there is a Tumbler in the Batman set. It is expected that there will be several Avengers and/or Ironman 3 sets released in 2013.
Star Wars is still going strong in 2013. A new A-Wing set will be released, this is the fourth A-wing to date. The Rancor Pitt expansion to Jabba's Palace looks great and makes a fun addition. Besides several Clone Wars sets there is also a new Old Republic set.
Also in the Star Wars theme the Planets Series is expanded. Series 3 and 4 will be released in 2013. This time one of the sets is an asteroid belt instead of a planet. And there is also a droid instead of a minifig.
These are some of the sets that will be released in 2013. Of course there will be new sets in other themes as well.

Star Wars Chess
Playing chess becomes a lot more fun when both Lego and Star Wars are involved.
Flickr user "Bricplace custom" has created a beautiful Star Wars chess set. Like in the movies the Rebels stand against the empire.
The micro sets and minifigs take chess to the Star Wars universe. This particular battle takes place on Hoth during The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars Relativity
Everything is relative, and this Star Wars moc by Flickr user "Paul Vermeesch" is a perfect example.
Escher, the original artist of this concept, would be proud.
All the different locations are instantly recognizable for the Star Wars fans, and are all very accurate.

The UCS Sandcrawler project on Cuusoo has reached 10.000 votes!
This is great news for the projects initiator "mb_bricks".
We will have to wait until the next Cuusoo review period in September to see if this project will be considered.

Star Wars: The Old and the New!
We are back with a new Star Wars: The Old and the New! Today we will be taking a look at the two different Landspeeder sets released in the Star Wars theme.
Both of these sets depict one scenes from the movie where Obi Wan and Luke travel the desserts of Tatooine.
First we have the old set 7110 released in 1999. This set consists of 49 pieces and 2 minifigures, Obi Wan and Luke.
This is a small set that actually looks a lot like the landspeeder from the movie. On the down side this set does not include C3PO and R2-D2 who, in the movie, travel with them.
Set on Brickset.com
Here we have the new and improved landspeeder released in 2010 set number 8092. This set has 163 pieces and 5 minifigures. This is a big improvement from the old set, although the price is a bit higher as well.
In this set we get the new flesh versions of Obi Wan and Luke, C3PO, R2-D2, one Stormtrooper and a sentry droid. The sentry droid does not really count as a minifig in my opinion, its just a few pieces and nothing special.
The detail of the landspeeder has increased a lot from the old set and together with the extra minifigs this set makes a good improvement over the old one.

Lego Cuusoo: Dark Bucket
Some exciting news from Cuusoo today, the Star Wars Dark Bucket has reached 10.000 votes!
This is a cool idea, since a lot of people would like to have a huge Stormtrooper army.
However it is unlikely Lego will make a set exactly like the one submitted. This because they do not hold the license for producing Star Wars products that consist solly of action figures (minifigs).
They entire Lego community is looking forward to what Lego will do with this idea.
Personally I hope they will now consider raising the number of minifigs in the regular sets.
Check it out on Cuusoo!
UPDATE: Unfortunately Lego has rejected the idea of the Bucket completely, due to licensing conflicts.

Star Wars: The Old and the New!
Star Wars is one of the most popular Lego themes for over 10 years now. So popular in fact that the are now making new versions of old sets. I will be showing you some of these new releases and compare them to the original sets.
So to kick this off!
The Droid Escape
This is the original Droid Escape set from 2001. It was one of the first Star Wars sets.
It is a very simple set. There are R2-D2 and C-3PO, and of course their escape pod. The entire set contains 45 pieces.
There is very little detail in the set. The escape pod is very smooth and most of the detailing is put on the printed pieces.
Check it out on Brickset.
Update: Buy the 7106 on theplasticbrick.com
This is the new release of the Droid Escape. It was released earlier this year.
The were a lot of changes made in comparison to the original set. 2 Stormtroopers and a speederbike were added and the escape pod looks a lot more like the real pod from the movie. Also the minifigs of C-3PO and R2-D2 have been updated, R2 has a grey dome now and 3PO has a more detailed torso and head. This new set contains 137 pieces which, in combination with the extra minifigs, makes this set much more fun to play with.
Check it out on Brickset.
This was the first comparison of an old and a new set. More will follow!

You have been SteamPunked!
These days it has become increasingly popular to convert any standard Lego theme to Steam Punk.
Flickr user "SiMOCs" has done a great job of converting the Imperial Shuttle to this fan made theme.
All the pieces like gears, wheels and barrels take the shuttle directly to the worlds of Steam Punk!

Star Wars micro madness!
Built for the Iron Builder contest on Flickr, the objective is to create a moc that in what ever way contains the new blue Battle Droid torso. These are two Tatooine micro creations.
This is a micro build of the Boonta Eve podrace on Tatooine. You can clearly see that two of the three podracers contain the new blue torso's. The other podracer is a very beautifully constructed micro version of Sebulba's podracer.
Built by Flickr user "2 much caffeine". Check it out on Flickr.
This creation depicts the Mos Eisley spaceport. Again the blue torso is used in the creation. This time is part of the blue spaceship. Also this creation is mostly built in snot style. The entire main hanger is constructed of bricks on their sides.
Built by Flickr user "pasukaru76". Check is out on Flickr.

Lego for a living
Ever wonder what it would be like to be a Lego designer? Check out this video to get an idea!
Erik Varszegi, a professional Lego designer, takes you on a tour through a Lego design center. See what he and his team have created in the past and what it takes to create a Star Wars villain.

Theed Spaceport
After a scene form The Empire Strikes Back we now have a scene from The Phantom Menace.
Flickr user ACPin has created the "taking the hanger" scene from the movie.
Obi Wan and Quigon Jin take out the droids and Anakin takes refuge in a Naboo fighter.
The tan colored walls make the scene look very much like the scene from the movie.
ACPin has created more scenes from The Phantom Menace. Check out his Flickr page!

The AT-AT Strikes Back
This is one of my favorite scenes from Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back.
Luke take's on one of the Empire's biggest weapons on his own. By the end of the scene Luke will have brought the AT-AT to it's knees.
This scene was built by Mocpages user "2x4". The details are very accurate. Just imagine four of these in the battle of Hoth and some snowspeeders flying around them.
Check out more photo's on Mocpages.

Republic Frigate
This Republic Frigate was built by Flickr and Mocpages user yoshix.
It comes very close to being minifig scale. It is close enough so that the minifigs look really cool standing around it.
It is a work in progress but it looks great already. Check out more on Flickr or Mocpages.

Christmas on Hoth
Christmas is coming to the Outer Rim Regions.
Hoth is celebrating Christmas and, as always, it is a white and snowy one.
Whitefang has created this little scene and has done a great job.

The Empire begins here....
The epic battle between Mace Windu and, at this point still chancellor, Palpatine brought to us in Lego.
Built by Okayaraman from Flickr.
This is a very accurate build of Palpatine's office suite. The red colors, the stairs, the desk and the conic ornaments, it is all very much like the set used in the movie's.
Check out much more on Okayaraman's Flickr page!

I have a bad feeling about this...
ACPin has built a beautiful Lego recreation of this Star Wars scene from A New Hope.
The escape pod landing of R2D2 and C3PO in the Tatooine dessert and their quest to find Obi One Kenobi.
The details on the escape pod are very creative. ACpin used minifig tools to give the pod a real machine look.
The dunes are nicely built and look very natural, specifically around the pod.
Check out more on Mocpages or ACPin's website.
